Main character selection, newbie help : (
I played a rogue in WoW, which was (at first) great damage wise but the weakest class PvE (and in the uncoordinated joke of pvp endgame). Now Im looking to be a character people want to party with, both pvp and pve. Ive played competitive games for aournd 10 years so difficulty isnt a factor for picking a class.
Unfortunately, I never played the beta. I have no clue whats going on except a basic understanding of what each classes role is. I was thinking mesmer, but I honestly dont know. Im not looking for some generic build where I can be good all around, I just want to be good at my role. I read through some other topics, and through the list of skills, but its really hard to understand with zero ingame experience. If someone, such as Ensign , could give me a basic rundown of what roles mesmer can fill, whats a good subclass (or mainclass for mesmer), or any important information it would greatly help come midnight. While I do have the option of making multiple classes, my playstyle will leave me sticking with a main one. Its a pretty important decision so I dont get behind my friends should I choose a new character. |

well. Mesmers are good anti casters, another words, they can deal great damage at foes casting spells.
Memsers can also shatter enchantments, wich otherwise make pvp characters almost invinsible (mainly war /mon.) A second proffesion for a mesmer is probably best as warrior, this way, you can get a spell named illusionary weaponary, wich only works in melee, and deals great damage. Hope this helped. Regards, Ashleigh. |

I was looking at illusion magic for a mesmer, looks good.
Would I put any build into a warrior or just pick it for the melee? Does that question even make sense? |

yes it does. I would put swordsman skills up to level 9, so you can use one of the best swords. For everything else, leave the warrior stats,. My reccomended stats for a mes/war build is. 9 inspiration, 9 illusion, 6 domination, 9 fast casting,( or 8, depends wich is possible) and 9 swordsmanship, Regards, Ashleigh |

Why not try a Mesmer/Ranger? The ultimate Annoy-Your-Enemy-To-Death char
I proposed this because i played ranger/mesmer one time, but i guess that combo would be better the other way around. |

Read the descriptions there then decide on a play style you want to try as a Primary and one you'd like to have to complement that as your secondary. Remember, you have 4 charecter slots so you can experement as much as you want. :P |
